Northrop Grumman and Boom Progress Defense Market Expansion
Boom announced it will support Northrop Grumman on a NASA contract to deliver solutions for the “High-Speed Endo-atmospheric Commercial Vehicle Conceptual Design Study and Technology Roadmaps Development” program. Boom and Northrop Grumman are also continuing collaboration on a special mission variant of Overture, after ongoing identification and investigation of use cases that will benefit the Department of Defense.
Construction Underway on Overture Facilities

Overture Superfactory
The Overture Superfactory, the final assembly line for Overture flight tests and customer delivery, is on pace for production launch in 2024 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Iron Bird
The Iron Bird, the facility housing a full-scale iron bird used to test and integrate flight components and systems, software, and hardware-in-the-loop, is being built in Centennial, Colorado.

SAF Providers Secured for Overture Flight Test Program
Boom is partnering with Dimensional Energy and AIR COMPANY, bringing its available SAF supply to 10 million gallons per year for Overture’s flight test program.

Dimensional Energy
Dimensional will provide up to five million gallons of SAF annually, produced through Power-to-Liquid technology, for the duration of the Overture test flight program.

AIR COMPANY
Advancing our net zero commitments, Boom will purchase up to five million gallons of AIRMADE™ SAF on an annual basis over the duration of the Overture flight test program.

With commitments from American Airlines, United Airlines and Japan Airlines, Overture’s order book stands at 130 orders and pre-orders.

American, the world’s largest airline, is poised to have the world’s largest supersonic fleet.
United Airlines
In June 2021, United became the first U.S. airline to sign an aircraft purchase agreement with Boom Supersonic.


Japan Airlines
In 2017, Japan Airlines (JAL) and Boom announced a strategic partnership to bring commercial supersonic travel to passengers.

XB-1 Moves to Mojave
The world’s first independently developed supersonic jet is now in Mojave, preparing for final testing and first flight.
