Brian Elson joined Rolls-Royce North America in 2011 and serves as the Vice President, Government Relations. Based in the company’s North American headquarters located just outside of Washington, D.C. Elson oversees the company’s civil aerospace, space power and propulsion, and emerging technology policy and regulatory issues before Congress and the Administration.
Prior to joining Rolls-Royce, Elson spent nearly five years as the Director of Legislative Affairs with the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA). In this capacity, he served as the primary advocate for domestic aircraft manufacturers representing nearly 340 member companies before Congress and the Administration. Prior to joining AIA, Elson served as the Associate Director for Governmental Affairs in the Office of the Secretary of Transportation.
He holds a master’s degree in Transportation Policy, Operations, and Logistics from George Mason University, and a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Thomas C. Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia.
Elson lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife, son, and their dog Lindy Lou.
