Eric Dowty is Head of Tech at Boom Supersonic, where his teams build the internal software platforms and infrastructure that power Boom’s aircraft and gas turbine programs — from turbomachinery design and analysis tools to telemetry systems, supply chain and manufacturing software, and IT and compute infrastructure. He focuses on building high-performing engineering teams and delivering reliable, scalable software for complex aerospace applications.
Eric has been with Boom through multiple stages of the company’s growth. Before moving into leadership, he served as a technical lead and individual contributor, building high-performance compute pipelines, conceptual design and optimization tools for XB-1 and Overture, and supersonic routing and sonic boom prediction software.
Prior to Boom, Eric built a technical background spanning commercial technology and national defense. He worked at two technology startups before joining Boom. Earlier, he served in the United States Air Force, where he worked on mission and weapons planning software for the F-22, B-2, and F-35 and led engineering for a nuclear command and control system. He also taught Computer Science at the Air Force Academy and led multidisciplinary teams responsible for mission-critical programs.
Eric holds a MS in Computer Science and a BS in Electrical Engineering.
