Takahiro Nakashima has led the development and management of environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives at Japan Airlines for more than a decade, first as Director of Environmental Affairs and today as an Advisor to the ESG Promotion Department.
During his 38-year career with Japan Airlines, Nakashima has held leadership roles within Corporate Planning and Flight Operations Engineering, and is regarded for his expertise in aircraft performance and environmental affairs.
He represents Japan as an advisor to the International Civil Aviation Organization Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (ICAO CAEP). He has participated in the development and discussion of ICAO measures to reduce aviation emissions, including the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) and its incorporation of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). He is a former member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Environment Committee (ENCOM), which drives IATA’s global environmental policy.
In his spare time, Nakashima volunteers as a support group facilitator for families who face the challenges of having a child diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. He resides in Tokyo with his wife, daughter and son.
