This year, Boom Supersonic’s chalet will showcase a new era of supersonic flight as the company continues its progress toward a future of sustainable supersonic travel.

Aerospace Global Forum Panel — Innovation Driving the Future of Flight
Ben Murphy (Head of Sustainability Policy) is speaking on a panel that will explore how innovation, technology, operations, regulations, policy, public attitudes, and a shared global goal can change the way we fly and help tackle climate change. Kerissa Khan MRAeS, President Elect 2022-23, Royal Aeronautical Society, will moderate the panel, which will include, alongside Ben: Sebastien Borel, SVP Commercial, Lilium; Professor Fern Elsdon-Baker, Director Research Institute for STEMM in Culture and Society, University of Birmingham; and Ganesh Rao, General Manager, General Manager Autonomous Systems, Microsoft Corporation.

FINN talk: Speeding Towards Sustainable Aviation
Ben Murphy (Head of Sustainability Policy) spoke at a FINN session. Farnborough FINN sessions provide a forum to share and discuss the major topics and trends affecting the aerospace industry today. Ben elaborated on Boom’s mission to redefine long haul aviation in terms of both speed and sustainability. Supersonic flight can be a catalyst for innovation and partnerships, and the clean sheet nature of Overture provides unique opportunities to implement sustainability throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
American Express Platinum Card® and Centurion® Members Meet Former Chief Concorde Pilot at Brooklands Museum
American Express Platinum Card® and Centurion® Members kicked off their first day of the Farnborough International Airshow with a private tour of the U.S. Corral, followed by a private tour and dinner at the historic Brooklands Museum. Joined by Captain Mike Bannister, former chief pilot of the British Airways Concorde fleet, guests will be treated to a first hand perspective on the past and the future of supersonic flight from the iconic aviator.
Day 2: July 19, 2022
Press Conference
Today, Boom presented the refined design of Overture and also announced a new partnering agreement with Northrop Grumman to develop special mission variants of the aircraft.
Overture’s reveal at the Farnborough International Airshow is the culmination of 26 million core-hours of simulated software designs, five wind tunnel tests, and the careful evaluation of 51 full design iterations, resulting in an economically and environmentally sustainable supersonic airliner. Carrying 65–80 passengers at twice the speed of today’s airliners and running on 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), Overture will fly Mach 1.7 over water with a range of 4,250 nautical miles.

Additionally, the company announced today that it will begin outfitting The Iron Bird, a new 70,000-square-foot hardware ground test facility in Centennial, Colorado to house its first full-scale Overture testing model and flight deck simulators. The test model, also called an iron bird, will be used for integrating Overture’s flight hardware, software, and systems.
Northrop Grumman and Boom enter collaboration to provide mission solutions to U.S. military and allies
Today, Boom also announced a landmark partnering agreement with Northrop Grumman to develop special mission variants for the U.S. Government and its allies.
Together, the two companies will pursue new use cases for Overture to support government and military operations that require rapid response, including quick-reaction surveillance and reconnaissance, command and control, as well as mobility and logistics missions such as emergency medical and troop transport.
As it continues to build the supply chain for Overture, Boom announced new and expanded relationships. Collins Aerospace, Eaton, and Safran Landing Systems are joining the Overture program, supplying key systems such as landing gear, fuel and inerting, avionics, and ice protection. Earlier this year, Boom announced its selection of the Piedmont Triad area for its first Overture Superfactory and remains on track to begin production in 2024.
American Express Welcome Dinner
Today, Boom Supersonic executives welcomed Platinum Card® and Centurion® Members for three days of custom curated experiences at FIA. Earlier this year, the companies announced a multi-year partnership which extends first-hand access to curated and immersive aviation experiences that showcase Overture.
AIA US Industry Reception
The largest reception for the U.S. delegation at the Farnborough International Airshow, the AIA hosts top civil aviation, space, and defense companies, as well as U.S. government executives and premier foreign delegations. Rachel Devine (SVP, Global Policy and Regulatory Affairs), Chris Chadwick (VP, Supply Chain), and Ben Murphy (Head of Sustainability Policy) attended the AIA US Industry Reception on behalf of Boom Supersonic.

FIA Airline Leaders Summit
Kathy Savitt (President and Chief Business Officer) attended the Airline Leaders Summit, where 150 aviation leaders came together for an event that included moderated panels and industry networking. There was a panel session with Sir Tim Clark, President, Emirates Airline and Willie Walsh, Director General, IATA, moderated by Mark Pilling, Aviation Journalist.
FIA Welcome Reception
Blake Scholl (Founder and CEO), Kathy Savitt (President and Chief Business Officer), and Rachel Devine (SVP, Global Policy and Regulatory Affairs) attended the FIA welcome reception, joining 1,000 fellow industry professionals, government officials and international delegations in kicking off the start of the airshow.
T-1 Day: July 17, 2022
Air Capital of the World Reception
On eve of the Farnborough International Airshow, Rachel Devine (SVP, Global Policy and Regulatory Affairs), Troy Follak (SVP, Engineering and Overture Chief Engineer), and Ben Murphy (Head of Sustainability Policy) took part in an event designed to showcase the aviation innovation occurring in the state of Kansas, hosted by the Greater Wichita Partnership.
AIA President’s Reception
Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) member companies including Boom Supersonic gathered at the AIA President’s Reception. AIA is a trade association that advocates for the American aerospace and defense industry. Boom Supersonic’s Blake Scholl (Founder and CEO), Rachel Devine (SVP, Global Policy and Regulatory Affairs), Chris Chadwick (VP, Supply Chain), and Rich Harris (Chief Legal Officer) joined high-level U.S. government officials, and leaders from foreign delegations at the event.
