Boom statement on the passage of the Lee-Gardner Amendment

We look forward to doing our part — building the world’s fastest and most affordable supersonic airliner — to validate the Senate’s actions today.

Today, the Senate Commerce Committee, by agreeing to the Lee-Gardner Amendment to the FAA reauthorization bill, took a monumental step in the direction of more affordable access to supersonic flight. If passed into law by both houses of Congress, the Senate bill would reduce supersonic fuel burn, lowering ticket prices, extending aircraft range, and reducing carbon emissions. The bill would also establish a deadline for a rulemaking to allow civil supersonic flight over the United States for the first time since 1973.

With this action, the Senate places the United States at the forefront of the development of a new aerospace market that will dominate 21st century aviation. It shows that the United States is not only willing but poised to lead the nascent civil supersonics industry, which will create tens of thousands of high-paying jobs. By taking decisive action, the United States can spur the world to global adoption of this exciting technology that will generate enormous benefits to workers, businesses, and consumers.

Boom Supersonic applauds the Senate Commerce Committee for their forward-leaning vision. Special appreciation is due to Senators Mike Lee and Cory Gardner for proposing the amendment. We look forward to doing our part — building the world’s fastest and most affordable supersonic airliner — to validate the Senate’s actions today. We also look forward to working with the international community to craft global supersonic rules that enable us to advance our mission — to eliminate the barriers to experiencing the planet.
